An Easy Image Resizer

When sharing photos in Emails and on the Internet image file size is always an issue.

Microsoft has a free Program, which solves this problem. It is called the” Microsoft Image Resizer Powertoy”.

This program changes the Windows XP Explorer right click menu to include a “Resize Pictures” in the Pop-up (Figure 1). You can select either one image or all for resizing.

Figure 1.

The pop-up “Resize Pictures” allow you to select a number of image sizes, including custom size. The Large (fits 1024 x 768 screen) works well for Email (Figure 2). It provides small size file with adequate resolution for most late model monitors.

The files, shown in Figure 3 have been reduced in size more than 11 to 1. A new file is created with ”(Large)” added to the name. These images can now be attached or inserted into an Email that will be easy to view.
