Can’t see those Desktop Icons?

With the new high resolution monitors the Desktop Icons and font size may be smaller (or larger) than desired. To change the Icon size proceed as shown below.

Windows XP

 

  1. Right click a blank spot on the Desktop (Figure 1).
  2. Click on Properties. Then click on the Appearance tab. The Display Properties window is displayed (Figure 2).
  3. Click on Advanced button on the Display Properties window.
  4. The Advanced Appearance window will be displayed (Figure 3).

  1. In the Item: drop down menu select “Icon:” and size (Figure 4).
  2. Next select “Font:” and font size.

  1. Click the OK button on the Advanced Appearance window. When that closes click OK on the Display Properties window. The Desktop icons will be resized.

 

Vista

  1. Right-click the desktop, point to View, and then click on Large Icons, Medium Icons, or Classic Icons. (Classic icons are the smallest size.)
  2. If you have a scroll wheel on your mouse, on the desktop, press and hold CTRL while you scroll the wheel to make icons larger or smaller.
